YUAN RESTUARANT
This is one of our Favourite Restuarant. I being a Vegetarian there are very few places in Montreal to go to. This second day after arriving to Montreal my husband took us to this restuarant as I was jet lagged didn't really eat much but loved the ambience. But once Iwas done with jet lag I am there once every two weeks and it's my 5 year old son's favourite place.
Yuan is run by a family, who are from Taiwan. The resturant is clean and the staff there are polite and friendly. I generally have All you can Eat Menu which Mon-Thu is $18 (plus tax & tip) Fri-Sun is $20 (plus tax &tip) which includes 9 course meal which I think is great for the price. I love the Hot n sour soup, Spring rolls with lemon sauce, and Avacado Sushi... their Genaral Tao is also good. It's nice that they have an option of brown rice and white rice too.The portions are good size. and food is fresh. I love the flow of the order coming out,its never rushed.
I would recommend to go once and try it, for sure you will keep going back. That's all for now will keep you posted with upcoming news and events....
Have a wonderful weekend.
) Very soothing ambiance, traditional music + seating arrangment gives a Tibetan touch.
2) Delicious lentil soup with coriander but too salty. Perfect texture. Pooja couldn't finish it because of the excess of salt.
3) Tsé Sésha Shitake mushrooms and seasonal vegetables sauteed in a sweet ginger & garlic sauce. For a mushroom dish, not enough of them. Vegetables well cooked, crunchy but not raw. Good dish but nothing special.
4) Steamed veg momos: On the menu, they offer potatoes and cheese momos. We got potatoes and carrot&cabbage momos. Pooja thinks cabbage&carrot have more flavours. Cat prefers the mashed potato momos (it's the Québécoise in her!), soft and smooth, perfect with the creamy sauce. The soy sauce is not necessary, makes the momos too salty.
5) Tofu curry with jasmin rice: firm, flavourful tofu (we like!). Too much ginger which overpowers the dish (quite strong). Just spicy enough. Ginger en julienne - when you take a bite, it's too much. Nice crunchy onions and celery.
6) Service (this is my opinion): good service although waitress is not very talkative. Quick and efficient. Nice presentation of dishes. Never have to ask for more water. Fair price - $20.10 + tip/each for 4 dishes.
